Patient Safety Curricula

  • Gamified root cause analysis (RCA) simulation. Walks through an entire RCA from error submission through action plan development. It plays out like a “mystery dinner” with participants becoming characters within the RCA.

  • This asynchronous webinar can be used to demonstrate how healthcare systems create a Just Culture, frame a Morbidity & Mortality conference, or to understand the case of RaDonda Vaught.

  • This combination didactic and simulation explains the tenants of error disclosure, when to disclose and how to disclose. Followed by an interactive practice session of three disclosure cases. The cases are the same cases from the Teamwork module and works as a nice follow up to practice the errors committed during that module.

Quality Improvement Curricula

  • This 3-part curriculum simulates a QI project using Lean methodology. It can be used as a stand-alone comprehensive introduction to QI or as a primer for trainees embarking on QI projects to demonstrate the steps necessary for a successful project. Uses a combination of didactics and web-based activities using real-life data to demonstrate QI methodology. To foster resident engagement three “Choose your own adventure” options are available for teams to create different projects and get differing outcomes.

  • This interactive didactic uses videos, reflections and activities to introduce the basics of Quality Improvement, LEAN and Model for Improvement methodology. Also includes activities on SMART aims, outcome/process/balancing measures, and change concepts.

  • Help trainees understand how to use evidence based medicine to appraise quality improvement literature. This workshop can be paired with review of any QI article. Begin by understanding the differences between QI and Traditional Medical Research. Then use our QI-EBM-CAT worksheet to breakdown a QI article into components and evaluate each section.

High Value Care Curricula

  • Help trainees grapple with physicians roles in healthcare costs and the impacts it has on our patients in this interactive didactic on high value care. Interspersed with reflective activities, questions and discussion.

  • Gamified educational session on high value care. Compete to get the correct diagnosis at the best price. Includes real price lists, time constraints, and data. Best if taught after High Value Care Didactic to introduce value concepts.

Social and Structural Determinants of Health Curricula

  • Using a simulated case, participants uncover the structural determinants that affect the outcome of a patient. Participants will learn how to use improvement skills to affect change.

  • Walk through the steps of a root cause analysis while focusing on how structural issues within healthcare place vulnerable populations at higher risk of suffering from a medical error.

Teamwork Curricula

  • This simulation requires use of a simulation center with access to ACLS equipped mannequins. Learners will practice teamwork utilizing the TeamStepps approach in three simulated cases.

Wellbeing Curricula

  • Develop skills to manage the trauma of working in healthcare. Whether it’s dealing with burnout, medical errors, or working through the COVID-19 pandemic, this session uses three interactive exercises and reflections to demonstrate how we can use narrative skills to connect with one another to combat burnout.
